Assange is currently unable to leave the Ecuadorean Embassy in London. The Ecuadorean government confirmed that Mr. Assange has a legitimate fear of political persecution, and risks torture or the death penalty in the US.

In 2010 Julian Assange took part in publishing over half a million Pentagon and US State Department documents. This is the largest publication of its kind in history. The documents revealed thousands of embarrassing events that the United States government never wanted the public to be aware of.

You should know about the Fukushima Radiation Leak in 2013

You probably heard about the Fukushima, Japan Power Plant meltdown caused by the earthquake in March 2011 and then not much more after that like most people. This is alarming because since 2011 the reactor is constantly leaking into the land and sea.

Recently this threat has grown so bad that the level of severity has finally been increased from 1 to 3 after acknowledging the storage tanks have leaked over 300 tons of radioactive water into the earth. The Fukushima meltdown is considered to be the worst nuclear disaster since Chernobyl in 1986 and so far has remained less severe but the future is uncertain and the effects of the radiation have yet to truly be seen.

With talk of military strikes in Syria by the U.S. and all of the confusion revolving around the country I found this article by Max Fisher for the Washington Post to be really helpful in understanding exactly where we stand today. There's no sign of peace in the near future and as the humanitarian crisis continues to build it's only a matter of time before there is more serious violence. What we don't know yet is the source.

Several French companies suffered the fate of having their finances strategically drained into offshore accounts without any of the violence you would expect from a corporate heist. Sophisticated hackers, along with a little help from human error, are able to write code that can harvest data necessary to process an account transfer. The attackers stay moving and make it near impossible for the authorities to determine if they are located in a specific place or just routing their traffic through the location in question. The article below has the full explanation.

Your Credit Worthiness is up to Your Friends

Some companies are beginning to use your social media communications and metadata as a means of approving or denying your loan application. This means your crazy work buddy that posts all the racist garbage could be costing you your next house if you remain active friends online.

Using the internet as a tool to assess credit value has some scary realities. The company your applying credit for can request info from any social media source directly from you in the application process. Deny access and your probably going to miss out on the deal but thats not the whole story. They can also use information gathered by the site its self. For example:

How long did you spend reading about the loan on their site?

Did you type in all CAPS?

Is your computer IP address located where you say you are?

The answer to all these questions along with your social media trail can each have a serious impact on your credit application. Going forward I can only imagine how important our online traffic in our everyday lives.

Facebook Friends could Change Your Credit Score.

NYTimes.com or 170.149.168.130?

Until the Syrian Electric Army (SEA) started to modify the DNS those two were exactly the same website. Today the New York Times, Twitter, and other sites were compromised by the hacker group and the traffic expected for the well know websites were instead redirected to the SEA content.

Being declared legal means it can progress into our world with a little grain of hope. Sometime in the near future you may be checking your Bitcoin balance instead of your local bank account.

The first thing you'll need, aside from some background, is a wallet which will be your means of sending and receiving payments.  The article linked gives some awesome insight into where Bitcoin is in todays world and the possibilities it may hold for the future. Bitcoin in naturally anonymous but far more secure than cash.

Telling Real Life Stories like Mad Libs

A little back I wrote about an article I found describing the unique business structure of Medium.Com. I’ve since joined the website and even submitted one of my own original pieces. I skim through every now and then just out of curiosity and today I clicked on something pretty unique. A story is currently unfolding online in front of our eyes and we may have an opportunity to change the outcome. When I say we I mean The Internet. Yes anonymously We, alive online, are a force with potential to change real lives in the moment.

This story is about a man offering another man a path for success. My attention was immediately captivated because here was MAN A observing MAN B who has little to no impact on A's present life but instead of passing by emotionless like the rest of the world, A begins considering the abilities of B.

Patrick McConlogue (MAN A) has a proposition for a young homeless man (MAN B). He’s sharing the progression of this story on Medium and is seeking feedback from his audience.

The future has endless possibilities for a homeless man and a writer.

This article by Jennifer Granick for Forbes gives some insight into the other side of the NSA. Whats actually happening to the people working there? How much control do they really have and how are the Snowden leaks impacting them?

The disconnected garbage being presented by Obama or someone else behind a podium on CNN is one thing but Jennifer has the opportunity to share a meal with NSA Director Keith Alexander which presents some opportunities to be jumping off points for repairing the damage done.

Don't Fly During Ramadan

A family trip from New York to LA turns into nightmare via the people who are supposed to be protecting us. This article by Chimeracoder is a good read and explains one mans experience with the the chilling reality that our national security practices have grown out of control.

After reading this I immediately thought of David Miranda, who was held up for hours by the UK authorities while traveling recently. He also had property unlawfully taken and was held against his will without any legal reasoning.
