Your Social Media Profile Is A Gateway For Spam

The spam and lack of genuine communication has become a major rason for many people to leave their social media profiles behind. I found an article that explains why you see so much irreverent garbage in your news feed.

Facebook has an algorithm called Edgerank that makes decisions on users content in an attempt to present the most relevant, worthy news to your feed. It fails miserably because people like to analyze patterns and use them to their advantage. Hence the kitten photos and sharing contests used to sell the most random products like SPAM for example.

Here's some professional insight from Jeroen Panjer via Medium.com

If You Want Privacy You Have Options Overseas

The United States government has come clean on the snooping of its citizens and even the population worldwide  We owe this to information leaked by Edward Snowden. The downside to these leaks is the possibility of severe backlash in Silicone Valley and across the 50 States. The privacy laws in other countries are becoming a real positive feature offered by foreign online solutions. The loss of trust in American companies because of their ties to the NSA presents a huge opportunity for interests overseas.

Syria's Chemical Weapons Won't Simply Disappear

The chemical weapons in Syria have been a concern but it seems Syria may be willing to play nice. The problem is the cooperation needs to come from all parts of Syria. The rebels and the Syrian President need to allow the chemical weapons to be properly inspected by professionals. Professionals who aren’t subjected to a civil war and insane deadlines on the regular. So who are these pros responsible for destroying Syria’s current stockpile and ability to make more chemical weapons in the future?

The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons is sending a team of inspectors this coming Monday with the goal of locating and assessing the chemical weapons in Syria. Their findings could prevent or start military actions from unfriendly forces outside of Syria. Up to this point the organization has been destroying old chemical weapon stockpiles and searching the globe for places new ones could be in production. They have no extended training in war-like senarios. OPCW headquarters is in the Netherlands but its influence reaches across the globe. The tiny group are sure they are up to the task at hand.

Brazilians Against The N.S.A

Here is a wonderful story about some Brazilians who have begun to resist the NSA's spying. Dolma Rousseff, the President of Brazil is loud and firm with her stance on the behavior of the American  government regarding the privacy of her nation. She sees the programs created by the NSA as a violation of human rights.

In support of Ms. Rousseff some citizens have developed their own plan against the NSA snooping. They have begun addressing the NSA out in the open. They add extra explanation of their message or some additional comments for the government employee waiting to intercept their message. Some are even sending messages with specifically malicious keywords that lead nowhere just to confuse and frustrate agents at the NSA. The Brazilian's even have their own team of hackers ready to wage war on an online front. Their first public introduction came by way of a mistake. The hackers defaced the website for NASA instead of the NSA which only added to the humor and confusion. Pretty brilliant if you ask me.

Have A Nice Day, N.S.A

Hummingbird

Google recently announced a new way of delivering search results to their users. The new algorithm is called Hummingbird and it takes into consideration the meaning behind your search instead of the search keywords themselves to match the responses in the best possible way.

As we continue to use our mobile devices more and now even verbal commands when searching it makes sense that the way our results are delivered should be changing as well. There are a few other interface changes and some cool new apps to check out as well.

Carbon is the Future of Computers

Silicone Valley may consider changing it's name in the near future when the silicone chip is useless and outdated. The limitations of silicone transistors are becoming a reality so scientists are reaching out to new technologies.

Carbon nanotubes are taking the place of silicone and have the potential to be less than half the width of a strand of human hair. When used to construct a computer circuit these tubes can allow for an incredibly small and powerful design.

On September 30 2013 there is a good possibility that the US government could experience a shut down. At the moment the bill holding everything up is the one regarding ObamaCare. The House and Senate can't agree on the bill so the government may literally shut down in the very near future. If your feeling curious as to how this may impact you and your family join the club.

The Good news is the Washington Post has an article describing everything we can expect from a government shut down. There are even details regarding individual portions of the government and how they will be dealing with the almost certain government shut down.  A shut down doesn't necessarily mean that the entire system ceases but certain facilities and services will be limited for sure.

Companies Are Made Of People

If a company is made of people and those people are living organisms then why is most of corporate American running their establishments as if the employees were lifeless machines?

I really enjoyed this perspective presented by Dave Gray who reminds us that companies are made of people who are in business because of their customers and these customers happen to be people too. So if you have people communicating with other people your business must be structured around the human element right?

A Desperate Need For Transparency

Barrett Brown is looking at some serious jail time that a lot of people don't feel he deserves. Given the recent release of leaks by Edward Snowden, who until recently had been employed by the NSA, Barrett may have more support than ever.
If we continue on the current path we are surely heading toward a complete surveillance state and thats only if we aren't already too far gone. By remaining silent while authorities smack those that pop up with  important information like wack-a-mole we are only giving the government more promise of unconditional power.

It's simple to stop the process. Start making noise and keep asking questions. Use the information already provided by people like Brown and Snowden to your advantage. Follow loose ends and ask questions when things don't add up. Be curious and hold those you voted into place accountable for the expectations they set while campaigning for your endorsement. A peaceful population has a desperate need for transparency.

The Trouble With Government Paid Psychopaths

The people who swear to serve and protect may be doing just that to their own agendas exclusively. This article serves up a healthy argument regarding the way our current police force in the U.S. has turned criminal.

The state and local police are well equipped and funded by a government that isn't exactly being honest with the public. So if the source isn't trustworthy I'm willing to bet that same holds true for everything they control. Several cases of the police murdering innocent citizens have been brushed aside due to the  psychopaths occupation. Credibility is slowly becoming an issue for those meant to protect us.
